How Rohit’s Faith Aided Tilak in Getting a Place in the Asia Cup

As a result of Tilak Varma’s outstanding T20I debut for the West Indies, several cricket analysts, including former head coach Ravi Shastri, supported his inclusion for the Asia Cup 2023 and the next ICC World Cup. The left-hander batted with the same fervor in every game in the Caribbean, getting off the mark in international cricket with back-to-back sixes. Varma became the series’ greatest star despite India losing the match 3-2. He finished the trip as Team India’s leading scorer with 173 runs in 5 games.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-140351″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-fixed-deposit-vs-recurring-deposit-investment-battle-which-one-suits-you-the-best-download-2023-08-22t175135.896.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com fixed deposit vs recurring deposit investment battle which one suits you the best download 2023 08 22t175135.896″ width=”1023″ height=”616″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-fixed-deposit-vs-recurring-deposit-investment-battle-which-one-suits-you-the-best-download-2023-08-22t175135.896.jpg 289w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-fixed-deposit-vs-recurring-deposit-investment-battle-which-one-suits-you-the-best-download-2023-08-22t175135.896-150×90.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1023px) 100vw, 1023px” title=”How Rohit's Faith Aided Tilak in Getting a Place in the Asia Cup 3″>

The selection committee took note of Varma’s skill and decided that he should fly to Sri Lanka for the next Asia Cup, which begins on August 30. The hitter was really taken aback when he was chosen for the continental competition, which also happened to be his first ODI call-up.

“I never considered making my ODI debut during the Asia Cup. In a video posted by the BCCI, Varma, who is now in Ireland, said, “I have always dreamed of playing for India but debuting in two formats in a single year is a big thing for me so I’m preparing for it.”

The 20-year-old batsman from Hyderabad expressed gratitude to Indian captain Rohit Sharma for his unending support. Varma, a player for the Mumbai Indians, made his IPL debut last season when Rohit served as captain. The young hitter described how the captain’s encouragement motivated him to give his all on the field.

Even throughout the IPL, Rohit Bhai supported me. He was the one who approached me and talked to me when I first joined the team, the Mumbai Indians, even though I was really frightened. He urged me to have fun and never hold back while reaching out. Feel free to contact me at any moment, he said. I’ll be available for you via text or phone, Varma stated.

“So that’s how I’m playing the game and expressing myself everywhere. The similar strategy would be used at the Asia Cup as well. I’m pleased with my choices, he said.

Tilak Varma is praised by Agarkar

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar mentioned Varma’s good performance in the Caribbean as one of the grounds for the left-hander’s selection after selecting the 17-man roster for the Asia Cup on Monday.

“Tilak Varma has potential. He has a great chance with the Asia Cup. During the T20I series against West Indies, we saw some great potential in both performances and attitude. He will be exposed as a result. He also pitches left-handed. Fortunately, we have room for 17 here, giving him the chance to join the squad, according to Agarkar.
