The Delhi High Court rejects a stay on the Sushant Singh Rajput biopic Nyay: The Justice

Once again, the Delhi High Court declined to impose a halt to the streaming on an OTT platform of the movie Nyay: The Justice, which was based on the life of Sushant Singh Rajput. This time, Sushant Singh Rajput’s father has submitted a petition in his lawsuit against the filmmakers asking for an interlocutory injunction. However, the court emphasized that because it was published in 2021 and may have already been seen by thousands of people, a potential ban cannot be implemented.

Justice C. Hari Shankar rejected the argument in court, saying that it was contradictory to attach a legal right to something as transient as fame. Law cannot let itself to serve as a platform for the celebrity culture. In our constitutional system, which ensures individual equality and places equality as a prized preambular objective, it does not seem appropriate to allow an additional package of rights that would be accessible for enjoyment exclusively by celebrities.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-73783″ src=”” alt=”” width=”1280″ height=”959″ srcset=” 259w,×112.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px” />

The court highlighted that Sushant Singh Rajput’s rights to publicity, privacy, and individuality cannot be used since he is deceased. “The said rights, therefore, did not survive for espousal by the plaintiff,” the court noted.

Dilip Gulati wrote and directed Nyay The Justice, which Sarla A. Saraogi and Rahul Sharma produced. The movie features Zuber Khan and Shreya Shukla in the lead roles, along with Aman Verma as the ED chief, Asrani as Mahinder Singh’s father, Shakti Kapoor as the NCB chief, Kiran Kumar as Mahinder’s father’s attorney, Anant Jog as the commissioner of the Mumbai Police, Anwar Fatehan as the commissioner of the Bihar Police, Sudha Chandran as the CBI chief, and other actors in supporting roles.

On the third anniversary of the actor from Chhichhore’s passing, on June 14, admirers recently paid tribute to him. When Sushant was discovered dead at his home, an inquiry was launched to determine what happened. The actor’s last appearance was in the posthumously released film “Dil Bechara.” Sanjana Sanghi, Saif Ali Khan, and Sumit Tandon all have significant parts in the movie, which is based on the novel Fault in Our Stars.
